Back to School Shopping Lists!

Hello everyone!

With just 2 weeks to go before school starts, we wanted to publish our supplies list to help with shopping.  These lists can also all be found under the documents of the teacher's pages on the website (www.hts-wallingford.org), if you wanted to print out only one list.

As a general rule, what is on the list is what your child will need, so many teachers recommend not to get any extra supplies. :)


Kindergarten and 1st Grade


  • 1 SIMPLE PENCIL BOX 
  • 2 - 2 POCKET FOLDERS (BOTTOM POCKET) 
  • 1 headphone for ipad use (choose headphones from $10.00 to $20.00) (place in a gallon size baggie labeled with your child’s name) 
  • 4- 6 glue sticks (Glue sticks will be for classroom use. Please do not label with your child's name.) 

Second Grade

  • Inch/centimeter ruler
  • 10 sharp pencils
  • Box of 24 or less crayons
  • Erasers
  • Scissors
  • Glue bottle and glue stick
  • Pencil Box
  • 2- Pocket Homework Folder
  • 3 free reading books for in the desk
  • Word search/ puzzle book for free time
  • Ear buds for use with iPads, earphones in a baggie labeled with name
  • 2 large boxes of tissues for the class
  • 2 large containers of cleaning wipes for the room
  • 2 red pens
NO markers or colored pencils, please.  And please send your child with a water bottle each day.  Only refillable water bottles with your child's name will be permitted.  This is for germ and "green" purposes.



 Third Grade

  • pencils ( please no mechanical pencils) 
  • erasers
  • glue sticks
  • a small  soft pencil case pouch (please no hard pencil case box)
  • a small box of crayons or colored pencils
  • scissors
  • a pair of ear buds in a Ziploc bag with your child's name
  • 2 boxes of Kleenex for classroom use
  • 1 inch loose-leaf 3-ring binder
  • 1 package of white loose-leaf paper
  • 1 composition book (for reading)
  • cardboard - approx. 11x8 for covering religion and practice workbooks 
  • large package of 3x5 index cards
  • 2 folders with pockets (1 folder will be kept at school for daily assignments)
  • 2 single subject notebooks (one for science and one for social studies

Fourth Grade


  • #2 pencils & sharpener 
  • 5 wide-ruled spiral one-subject notebooks 
  • 2 red pens  
  • Sturdy backpack 
  • Erasable blue pens 
  • 2 wide ruled composition books 
  • Highlighters 
  • 6 book covers paper or cloth 
  • Ruler (with both standard & metric) 
  • 2 boxes of tissues 
  • 1 package of wide-ruled loose leaf
  • Pencil pouch 
  • 2 folders (homework, classwork) 
  • Small box of crayons 
  • 1 set of ear buds in a plastic sandwich bag with you name on the bag 


Fifth Grade

  • 1 one-inch thick loose-leaf binder (no thicker for space purposes) 
  • 1 package of loose-leaf paper - some in binder, the rest in reserve at home 
  • 1 soft sided pencil case 
  • 1 pair of scissors
  •  1 ruler 
  • 6 pens blue or black only - erasable or permanent 
  • 3 sharpened pencils 
  • 2 red pens 
  • Crayons required (colored pencils or markers optional) 
  • Pencil sharpener WITH shavings trap 
  • Glue stick or Elmer's school glue 
  • 1 large box of tissues for the classroom 
  • 1 subject notebook with a pocket for handouts for Mrs. Saia's math class 
  • 2- 3x5 lined index card (white) 
  • 1 set of earbuds in a plastic sandwich bag with your name on the bag. 
  •  Folder

Sixth Grade

  • 1 letter size expandable file with 10-13 pockets 
  • 1 any color marbled composition notebook (100 sheets only) 
  • 1 one inch thick – (no thicker, for space purposes) loose leaf binder 
  • 1 package of loose leaf paper - some in binder, the rest in reserve at home. 
  • 1 pair of scissors 
  • 1 ruler 6 pencils (with erasers or a separate eraser) and sharpener WITH shavings trap 
  • 6 (of each color) pens – blue OR black AND red – erasable or not 
  • Colored pencils – required markers/crayons optional 
  • Pencil case – soft cover only 
  • 3 x 3 post it notes – any brand – any light or neon color – no dispenser, please 
  • Glue sticks – required Elmer’s or other white liquid glue optional 
  • 1 pair of ear buds in a baggy with your name on it for use with iPads 
  • NO WHITE OUT AND NO BOOK SOX, PLEASE! Save brown bags, brown craft/mailing paper, wallpaper, heavy wrapping paper, or other book covering materials. These must be on hand all year for immediate replacement when covers are torn or worn. 
  • 1 large box of tissues for the classroom 
  • A seatsack as space inside the desk is inadequate for all the textbooks. They can be purchased through school in September.

Seventh Grade

  • a box of pens that write either green or red...Keep the box at home and have two in school. 
  • blue or black writing pens pencils and erasers 
  • a 12 section expandable for storage of papers 
  • A binder with dividing sections for homework and taking notes. Divider sections in the binder for the following subjects: **History**, Language Arts (x2: Notes and Homework), Science, Religion, Spanish, Literature, Religion, Math 
  • college-ruled paper 
  • glue and scissors for project work 
  • one LARGE box of tissues (due first day of school) 
  • ***Incoming 7th grade students will need 2 sections for History: Notes and Homework 
  • Earbuds/headphones for use with ipads. Please have earbuds in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child's 'first and last name. Earbuds will be kept at school and returned to students to take home at the end of the year.

Eighth Grade

Need everything on the Seventh Grade List.  In addition, they will also need:
  • Math: personal calculator, not scientific but with π and √ functions 
  • All other subjects: a stocked loose leaf or individual notebook 
  • All incoming 8th graders should bring in a large box of tissues as well as ear buds for use with iPads
